Heat DetectorHeat detectors are generally devices that monitor heat changes and alarm you once it goes beyond a certain limit. Heat detectors are widely used around the world for other purposes as well. Buildings that are built on international standards are using this technology to encounter fires inside the building. These heat detectors trigger the alarm in case the temperature rises beyond a certain level. This usually occurs inside a building in case of fire only.

The heat detectors in combination with water sprinkler are used in buildings all around the world as the quickest way to respond to a fire. Once the heat detector detects an abrupt change in the temperature, it activates the water sprinkler that sprinkles water as long as the temperature is beyond a certain temperature limit. This serves as an acute response to fire and often helps by reduces the chance of a bigger damage that could possibly occur as a result of the ignition of fire.

There are basically two types of heat detectors in the market: rate of rise heat detector and fixed temperature heat detector. For the rate of rise detector, the principle is the rate of change of the temperature. Any abrupt rise that goes faster than the specific rate that is known to the detector creates a negative feedback that sets the alarm on.

Fixed temperature heat detectors are detectors on the other hand that set on the alarm beyond a fixed specific temperature. These alarms are usually set at a temperature that is optimum to the human being that is usually around 47 degrees Celsius. This temperature is set as to let you escape in case of an emergency and therefore provides added security.

The heat detectors are not safety devices but they are devices that are used to alarm people while in case of fire basically so that they provide time to escape in case of emergency.
